Pferderennen. Bis Anfang des 19 Jahrh blieben Pferderennen, bei denen man Wetten auf den Sieg der Pferde abschliesst, auf England beschrankt (sog Derby). Dann wurde der Rennsport, mit dem Ziele der Voll- und Halbblutzucht, auch in Deutschland heimisch. Hamburg, Baden-Baden, Hoppegarten usw schufen Rennbahnen, wo internationale Rennen als gesellschaftliche Ereignisse stattfinden. Translation: Horse Race. Until the beginning of the 19th century, horse races, in which bets were made on whether the horses would win, were restricted to England (the so-called derby). Then racing, with the aim of breeding thoroughbreds and half-breeds, also became at home in Germany. Hamburg, Baden-Baden, Hoppegarten etc. created racecourses where international races take place as social events.
