Image description

The Nativity facade is the only part of the temple directly built by Gaudí. When Gaudí died in 1926 only the tower of Saint Bernabé was completely finished and the other three very advanced. It is formed, like the other facades, by four square bell towers at its base, which become cylindrical when they reach a quarter of its total height. Higher up, they gradually adopt a parabolic profile until they turn into a pinnacle that crowns each of the towers. The three spaces that remain at the base between the edges, are occupied by three portals which together constitute the porch. The pinnacles which crown the towers have the same legend as those of the facade of the Nativity.
