Oswald Garside (1879-‑1942) The Thames at Barnes, about 1916-24 Watercolour, glue and tempera Height 49.6 x Width 65 cm TWCMS : S1517 Garside has used a special paint mix of glue, watercolour and egg-‑based tempera to give an extra sparkle to this view of the Thames at Barnes in Middlesex. Garside’s bright, sunny views were probably influenced by Impressionist pictures, which he likely saw during his studies in Paris.
