The Wawona Tree, also known as Wawona Tunnel Tree, was a famous giant sequoia in Mariposa Grove, Yosemite National Park, California; in 1881 a tunnel was cut through the tree and this became a popular tourist attraction, allowing tourists to drive carts, carriages and later automobiles through the hole; estimated to have been over 2,000 years old, with a height of 69 m. (227') and circumference of 27m. (90'), it fell in 1969 from the weight of snow on its crown and is now known as 'The Fallen Tunnel Tree'; from a series of illustrations of 'Famous Trees' produced as give away trade cards by the Cibils Beef Extract Company;
