PHILIPPINE AND MILITARY OFFICIALS LINK ARMS TO MARK THE END OF US-FILIPINO MILITARY EXERCISES IN ZAMBOANGA. Philippine and U.S. military officials link arms to mark the end of the U.S.-Philippine military exercises at the Southern Command military headquarters July 31, 2002 in Zamboanga. Officials of both countries hailed the exercises as a success despite failure to wipe out the Muslim rebels linked to the al Qaeda network.
