Demand for the trained dogs, which cost between $7,000 and $13,000 each, has boomed since a car bomb, planted by suspected Marxist rebels, ripped through Bogota's exclusive Nogal Club in February. The blast killed 36 people and injured 160. While sniffer dogs have been posted outside important buildings here for some time, clients are increasingly asking for them to ensure safety at private social gatherings, cocktail parties and business meetings.
