Cartoon shows a British boarding party routing the crew of the Chesapeake, in a matter of minutes the crew was subdued and the British flag hoisted. The Americans are portrayed as hapless and cowardly. By George Cruikshank 1792-1878. She was captured by HMS Shannon shortly after sailing from Boston, Massachusetts, on 1 June 1813.
