Dive into the Jerwood Collection which features artworks by British artists spanning from the First World War to the 1960s.
The Jerwood collection was set up in 1977 by businessman and philanthropist John Jerwood and collected by his lawyer and friend, Alan Grieve. The running of the foundation was entrusted to Alan Grieve after Jerwood's death in 1991.
The collection is primarily made up of paintings, works on paper, prints and sculpture by British artists working principally between the First World War and the 1960s. Over 250 works of Modern and Contemporary British art are featured in the Jerwood collection, and it continues to grow to this day with new acquisitions and donations.
The most notable featured artists of the Jerwood Collection include Barbara Hepworth, Paul Nash, Ben Nicholson, John Piper, and Walter Sickert.
