Jul. 28, 1953 - Accused meets son for First time: What promises to be the most sensational post-war triple- has started in Athens. The trial of Nikolas Ploumbidis head of the Greek Communist underground organization, who was arrested in Athens a few months ago - during a spy-ring round-up.. The location of a Communist transmitter was pin-pointed with the aid of a U.S. helicopter - visiting the country. When Communist leaders fled behind the iron-curtain in 1946 - Nikolas Ploumbidis stayed - and although suffering from Tuberculosis - lived under assumed names at twelve different addresses in Greece. Soon after his arrest - he was disowned by Greek Communist Party leaders living behind the Iron Curtain - in a broadcast from Moscow - which claimed that he was a” stool-pigeon on the payroll of the Nonace-Waseist police”
