Whole artwork view. Gray headline over a detail of the map of the Pompei excavations, made by cartographer Carlo Sorgente around 1860 in collaboration with chief archaeologist Giuseppe Fiorelli, belonging to the Tabula Coloniae Veneriae Corneliae Pompeis (1858-1860); the map, accompanied by the caption I terreni della tipologia - The Ground of Typology, is printed in red and shows the south-oriental side of the whole excavations area, including the sixth, seventh and eight Regiones, marking the input on the left side; this introduces to the Basilica (72), the Temple of Apollo (71) and the large Forum (60) with the Temple of Iuppiter (68), overlooked by the Macellum (66), the Temple of Vespasian (69), the Sanctuary of public Lares (69), and the Building of Eumachia (70); in the upper part are the neighborhoods towards the gate for Capua, while in the bottom are the Great Theater (86), the Temple of Isis (87) and the Samnite Gym (83).
