Whole artwork view. The rib vault of the Pentecost in its entirety, with at the top a white dove, symbol of the Holy Spirit; the scene is dominated by a building on whose upper floor the Apostles are gathered, some face backwards, others in profile; the one in a prominent position is Peter, depicted while pronounces his speech; in the centre Holy Mary stands out, in frontal position, with Her hands joined; at the base of the building, on the street, there are pilgrims of various ethnicities, depicted in different attitudes; below the rib vault one can see the fresco of the triumph of Saint Thomas Aquinas, in which the father of the scholasticism is depicted on a big throne, in the centre of the composition, with a book in his hands, surrounded by flying personifications of the theological and cardinal Virtues; at his feet there are three crouched figures, the great heretics defeated; at his sides, from left to right, it is possible to recognize Job, David, Paul, the four evangelists Mark, John, Matthew and Luke, Moses, Solomon; in the lower part there are fourteen decorated aedicules, inside which as many female figures sit symbolizing the Holy sciences, on the left, and the Liberal arts, on the right, each of them holding an object that allow their identification
