Video description

The historic train of Pelion or “Moutzouris" (smudgy) is a steam train that in the past-and during the shooting of this film-crossed, as a means of transport, the distance from the city of Volos to Milies, a mountain village in southern Pelion. First shot of the film is the train as it departs from Volos, with its driver and its inspector. It crosses the city right next to old and newly built apartment buildings, a road sign pointing to Argalasti, a sign of the XENIA hotel, a wonderful neoclassical style building and a square. The train goes on to its breathtaking route, while the smoke left by its engine, verifies the nickname “Moutzouris". The development of the road networks and the modernization of faster means of public transport devalued Moutzouris and in 1971 its operation stopped. 25 years later it started to operate again and until today it does not stop traveling in the villages of Pelion, with speed 25 kilometers per hour.
