David Stewart of Garth (1772 - 1829) Scottish soldier and author. Entered the 42nd Highlanders in 1787. Badly wounded at the Battle of Alexandria (Aboukir) in 1801 when the British defeated the French. Created Major - General in 1825. When he died he was serving as Governor of St Lucia.
