Switzerland Relief Saint-Gingolph, 1948 (b/w photo)

Image description: The French Consul General Chevilotte, with bouquet, and the former General of the Swiss Army, Henri Guisan, left, with hat, and his wife, visit on 14 July 1948, the French national holiday, the “friendship ship ship ship” in the port of Lausanne. On behalf of France, the Consul General expressed his gratitude for the friendly help. Construction materials are transported by ship to St. Gingolph as part of the “European reconstruction chain”. The village on the Swiss border on Lake Geneva was largely destroyed by German soldiers and the SS in a retaliatory action towards the end of the Second World War.
