Adele Gundert-Hesse (l.), the sister of the German writer, poet and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1946, Hermann Hesse, walks on July 2, 1947 with Klaery Hesse, the wife of Hesse's son Bruno, through the castle garden of Bremgarten Castle near Bern, where they had accompanied the poet. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Bern and honorary membership of the Freistudentenschaft of the City of Bern.
