Image description

Printmaker: Richard Purcell (d. 1766) Tinted print depicting Queen Charlotte (1744-1818) In this early portrait of the Queen she is shown covered in diamonds: necklace, earrings and tiara. Far from a display of wealth and magnificence, the diamonds show loyalty and devotion to her husband the King as all her jewellery was a gift from him.
