Launching of the new USS Lexington (CV-16) aircraft carrier on September 23, 1942. The ship was christened by Mrs. Theodore Douglas Robinson. Nicknames for the new USS Lexington was "The Grey Ghost" and "Lady Lex". The new USS Lexington (CV-16) replaces the old USS Lexington (CV-2) lost in the Battle of the Coral Sea in 1942.
