Image description

The taxiphote is a cabinet stereoviewer, patented in Paris in 1899 by Jules Richard. It allows to see photographs in relief, taken with a stereo camera (a camera with two lenses; one for the left eye and one for the right eye). The photographs were originally positivated on glass slides. The taxiphote works with interchangeable trays of 25 slides, and permits to change between them using a lever, located on the right of the machine.
