Image description

Basilica of the Holy Cross, right aisle: "Pulpit with scenes from the life of St. Francis tile about St. Francis in front of Pope Honorius III who approves the Franciscan Order", by Benedetto da Maiano (around 1481). Decorated by five bas-relief sculpted tiles, with scenes from the life of the Saint, it has a strong effect of depth thanks to the skilful use of perspective. There are niches with statuettes of the Virtues under each tile.
