Image description: On back of photograph: Scientists Defy Death - Dr. R. R. Spencer of Higienic Laboratories, Wash. D.C. has undertaken the dangerous task of finding a serum for the dreaded Rocky Mt. Spotted fever, transmitted by the "wood tick" a parasite found on animals living in the mountains of Montana. Several eminent doctors have died already from the disease, but it does not deter Dr. Spencer. Photo shows Dr. Spencer examining the “tick” thru a microscope, while his assistant, L. H. King examines the blood of a Guinea Pig, inoculated with the germ of the parasite. 8.5” x 6.5”
