'Dance Movement A': this work belongs to a group of a dozen different ‘dance movements’ created by Rodin in the last years of his life when he was too frail to work on a large scale. The series expresses the extreme physicality of the modern dancer and are among Rodin’s most innovative sculptures. They were unknown to the public until the Musée Rodin posthumously cast them in bronze at the Georges Rudier Foundry in Paris, decades after the artist’s death.
