Image description

Example of early colour photography according to the autochrome process. Photographer Leendert Blok applied this first practical colour process to photograph flowers for Dutch growers in the Bulb Region. With the aid of orange, violet and green coloured very fine potato starch granules which act like a filter and which have been applied to a black and white positive on glass, an image is created that can be viewed as a colour slide.
