Apr. 04, 1953 - Coronation Diamond suite makes a jewel casket. Jewellery from midnight to midday.: One of the most magnificent examples of modern British jewellery craftsmanship and design ever seen, has been created for Coronation Year. This diamond Suite is set in the precious metal palladium (sister meta to platinum) chosen for it's extreme lightness in weight combined with strength. It forma in itself a complete jewel casket, providing jewellery for every occasion. The Suite marks a new end outstanding trend in adaptable jewellery necklace, bracelets and earrings - the Suite is convertible into a dozen different jewels, including a handsome tiera. A floral theme has been used and to give added scintillation and importance to the Suite, all the larger central diamond are mounted on fine palladium wire strings so that each gem is enhanced in its dazzling brilliance by the movement of the wearer. Photo shows the suite as worn for evening wear, consisting of three magnificent pieces (a) a beautiful diamond necklace with a large, off centre floral motif, (b) pendant ear decorations, which encircle the entire car, with impressive floral motifs ending in drop diamonds, and (c) a matching floral bracelet or unusual design.
