Steam Train in the Lune Valley. It was inaugurated in the summer of 1937 and ran only until the commencement of the second Wolrd War on 3 September 1939, so this photo dates from that short period The locomotive is a streamlined 'Princess Coronation' class PAcofoc (4-2-6 Wheel alignment) designed by Sir William Stanier, Chief Locomotive Engineer of the London Midland & Scottish Railways (LMS) in 1937 One surviving example has recently been restored bu the National Rialway Museum into it original crimson lake livery with gold stripes - although some where blue and silver with pipes which extened the full length of the train
