Cavaliers are shown under a cloud of grey smoke, a wall with turrets to the left. A flag and armour lie in the foreground and men attend to the wounded, two officers in a blue jacket and a red jacket in the centre (inventory card). One of a pair of oil paintings on canvas, showing battle scenes,Pendant to CAL/P/196b. The uniform suggests that these two pictures may have been painted in England (House Guide, last revised 1996).
