Leda and the Swan (after an engraving by William Wynne Rylands after Boucher)

The painting on top of bureau is after William Wynne Ryland's engraving of Leda and the Swan, titled 'Jupiter and Leda' - which was after the original version now in a private collection in Los Angeles, not after the autograph replica that Boucher painted for Count Tissin (that is now in the National Museum, Stockholm) -and was first advertised for sale by the Paris print-publisher Buddit in August 1758. A bureau painted light green with gold embellishments. Sloping fall-front enclosing four shaped drawers, shelves and a well. Two small drawers and one long drawer below. Shaped apron and curved legs. Fall-front has oil painting in the style of Boucher of the story of Leda. Side panels painted with Italian landscapes. Metal rococo mounts. Rococo style. Treasurer's House, North Yorkshire
