Oil painting on canvas, Possibly Anne Pigot, Mrs Henry Vernon (1693-1714), attributed to Michael Dahl (Stockholm 1656/9 – London 1743), previously: in the style of Sir Godfrey Kneller (Lübeck 1646/9 - London 1723). A full-length portrait of a woman, standing, her left foot standing on the pedestal of a stone fountain, turned slightly to the right, head inclined slightly to the left, gazing at the spectator, holding a shell in her left hand to scoop water from a fountain on the left, her right hand holding a fold of her blue shawl, dark brown hair falling on her left shoulder, and wearing a red wrap-over dress, lined with green, over a white chemise, her blue shawl is draped over her left shoulder and is draped across the front of her dress. Distant landscape view to be seen on the right. Formerly above the mantel in the black and white room (Chintz Bedroom) in a plaster frame. Present carved and gilded wooden frame bought in 1988 from Paul Levi. Sudbury Hall, Derbyshire
