British (English) School. Oil painting on canvas, Called the Hon. Francis Robartes (1650-1718), as a boy, English School, c.1700, a rectangular painting, but an oval was once cut from (but later replaced) the middle of the canvas. A three-quarter length portrait of the son of the 1st Earl of Radnor ?, in a velvet blue coat, looking to the to the left, head facing, before an archway through which is seen a bookcase. On a table in front of him on the left are a drawing book, dividers and a score of music. In his right hand he holds a drawing or engraving of the head of an old man, which he is copying with a ponte crayon. On the right , behind him ia large globe and a mandolin propped up against it.
