Illustrator: Stein, Sir Marc Aurel 42217 Source/Shelfmark: OIOC Photo 392/29(376), Full-length portrait of Zampoin, in uniform, seated, his wife standing behind him. A carpet hanging on the wall serves as a backdrop. Zampoin, referred to as the 'kindly Russian Customs Officer', had met up with Stein at Por-dobe on 26 July, and they travelled together down the Alai Valley to Daraut-kurghan. Originally published/produced in 1 August 1915.
