They're risking their lives to save a dog. Linda, the dog of a mountain man from Giaglione, in Val di Susa, following his master, ventured along an impervious path. At one point he slipped and fell into a deep crevasse. Some shepherds, going down to the village, said that they had heard her complain. Two young people, Ernesto Belletto and Osvaldo Maberto, equipped with rope and crampons, climbed up the path made dangerous by snow and ice, up there. Then the first one held by the other, fell into the crevasse, took the beast that was half frosted, and drew it to safety. Illustration for La Domenica Del Corriere, 29 December 1957.
