Artist, Manufacturer: Robert Wallace Martin, R. W. Martin & Brothers Pottery Two-part ceramic jar with base in lid in the shape of an imaginary creature, half man/half monster. Lid/head displace face with leering smile and half-closed eyes. The main body of the creature, or 'grotesque', sits on his haunches, proper right arm resting on hip, proper left arm raised to chest, fingers spread.
