Image description

Published by Hannah Humphrey (1779-1882). A satire on the resignation of Lady Jersey (on 25 June 1796) and the supposed reconciliation of the Prince and Princess of Wales. In the distance are two rocky pinnacles. On the left dance: Lord Loughborough (Alexander Wedderburn) (1733–1805); the Duke of York (1763–1827); and Lord Cholmondeley (1767-1855). On the other, Lord and Lady Jersey (both with goat features) are being thrown from the rock by thunderbolts inscribed 'What? What? What?' (the King's well-known phrase).
