In the central wall at the top is painted the scene of St. Francis received by Pope Honorius III; in the foreground the children of Lorenzo de' Medici are climbing the stairs with their tutor Agnolo Poliziano: the third child, the blond-haired one, is John, future Pope Leo X; the middle of the scene is occupied by Franciscans kneeling down in front of the Pope, and members of the clergy, sittingin chairs, attending to the historical event; on the background, Piazza della Signoria with Loggia dei Lanzi without statues, Palazzo Vecchio and the church of San Pier Scheraggio, destroyed to build the Uffizi Domenico Ghirlandaio Church of Santa Trinita
