Philippe Bertrand

French sculptor, 1663-1724

Son of the sculptor David Bertrand, Phillipe was admitted to the 'Académie Royale' in 1701. He worked primarily for the Bâtiments du Roi under Jules Hardouin Mansart and Robert de Cotte. He worked on many large-scale commissions but also became known for his small-scale bronzes, which were popular with contemporary collectors.
