This piece could represent the first time that the Egyptians tried to model a human head in history. It has two holes for the eyes; a nose and a mouth. There is also a large hole below the head, which may have been for hanging the piece – perhaps outside a temple or a chapel – or for attaching it to a pole. There are also many holes around the face that may have been used to create a beard from feathers.
