Image description

The frame of this pectoral alternates different coloured semi-precious stones, and is topped by a cavetto cornice. Two boats can be seen at the bottom, separated by two rearing uraei. The king is shown in both boats: in one with Osiris, and in the other with the sacred benu bird. In the central area a scarab can be seen resting on a djed pillar. On either side are the cartouches of Psusennes I, with a shen symbol of infinity on either side. The scarab and cartouches are protected by the goddesses Isis and Nephthys, who stand on either side stretching their arms and wings out. The pectoral is attached to a row of beads, ending in a lotus-form counterpoise. Reign of Psusennes I (1045-994 BC)
