Oil painting on canvas, Sir Thomas Mansel, 1st Baron Mansel of Margam (1667-1723) by Michael Dahl (Stockholm 1656/9 – London 1743), inscribed: "Thomas, Lord Mansel/ Comptroller of the Household/ in the Reign of Queen Anne." A full-length portrait of a man, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, in a pale brown wig and wearing peer's robes, holding his wand of office in his right hand, his coronet on a gilt side table with scrolled legs beside him to his right, a column behind to his left. Comptroller of Household in the rein of Queen Anne, created Lord Mansell 1711/1712. The fourth daughter of Lord Mansell (Louisa Barbara Mansell 1732 - 1786) married the 2nd Lord Vernon. A six inch deep gilt frame, the outer carved with acorn bunches with oak leaves other berries, and leaves, ribbons in centre of each side and foliate design at each corner; inner frame of ribbon-twist motif. Identical frame in pattern and size of mouldings to SUD/P/18 and SUD/P/14 Sudbury Hall, Derbyshire
