Vase dating from late 18th century. The spectacular yellow and cobalt color on this palace vase is a departure from Chinese blue and white porcelains. The special character of this palace vase is marked by the unusual gold and celadon enamels at its mouth. Yellow was considered the imperial color, and its use for the ground is a distinction from other palace wares. The pattern on the shoulder shows the increasing influence of European design in imperial wares of the late 18th century.
