Image description

Multi-terrain pattern (MTP), 45 litre patrol pack, 2010 circa. The 45 litre patrol pack was part of the Personal Load Carrying Equipment (PLCE) or ‘webbing’ system which aimed to hold everything a soldier needed to operate for 48 hours. It was constructed from nylon fabric and includes a main compartment, twin internal stowage straps and a fully extendable lid. MTP camouflage was designed to blend with the range of environments in Afghanistan (2001-2014) and was developed after extensive laboratory tests and field evaluations, which included aerial and scientific photography to provide the right colours and brightness for the new pattern. This pack was Issued to Major Craig Terblanche of the Army Education and Training Service. As Major Terblanche bought his own rucksack he never used this one. §
