Sports Days & Village Fetes Vintage clips of local events and unusual sporting activities featuring bun eating competitions, folk dancing and the ultimate test of one's balancing prowess...brick standing, provide a nostalgic insight into 1930s village life and community. Art Students
Within the collection you can also find films created by students of and about the Manchester School of Art from 1929. Take a look at the pottery and life drawing classes, meet the teachers and get inside the minds of budding artists of the early 20th century. Watch out for some bizarre face pulling, expressive ballet and nifty dance moves. Highlights include an early example of trick photography where the film’s producer, Mr G H Higginson, appears to stand next to himself as if by magic.

Notable Artists Clips documenting notable figures, include footage showing Barbara Hepworth's sculpture arriving at The Bolton Museum in 1970 and a student produced film on the art and life of Harold Riley. The collection also holds a film documenting the Soviet Pilot, Yuri Gagarin’s, visit to Manchester in 1961.
