John Hoppner, RA (London 1758 – London 1810). Oil painting on canvas, The Reverend The Hon. Henry Cockayne Cust (1780-1861) by John Hoppner RA (London 1758 – London 1810). Half-length portrait of a young man, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, short blond hair, wearing a brown coat and white linen cravat. Reverend the Hon. Henry Cockayne Cust was born on 28 September 1780. He was the second son of Sir Brownlow Cust, (1744-1807) 1st Baron Brownlow of Belton and Frances Bankes, Lady Brownlow (1756-1847). He married Lady Anna Maria Elizabeth Needham (d.1866), daughter of General Francis Needham, 12th Viscount and 1st Earl of Kilmorey (1748-1832) and Anne Fisher, on 20 June 1816. He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.) and was Canon of Windsor. He lived at Cockayne Hatley, Bedfordshire, England. He took the name of Cockayne Cust when he inherited the Cockayne Hatley Estate. His son Henry Francis Cockayne Cust (1819-84) was the father of Adelbert Salusbury Cockayne Cust (1867-1927), 5th Baron Brownlow. He died on 19 May 1861 at age 80.
