At the centre of the stage, three couples from the 1920s dance the tango, or perhaps the Charleston, or the Foxtrot. Behind them are the musicians, with ancient instruments, classical clothes and angelic harmonies competing with the overwhelming rhythm emerging from a large gramophone. On the other side the indifferent spectators (like the nineteenth-century bathers) or worse, scandalised (like the sixteenth-century figures emerging from the large glass window).
