Video description

Location: Various, Portugal/Various, Republic of Angola Creator: Joaquìn Jordà The film is an investigation into Portugal after the disappearance from the political scene of the old dictator António de Oliveira Salazar, who, after more than forty years of absolute power, left the country in the hands of Marcelo Caetano. It seems that after this succession nothing has changed, that the political structure has remained unchanged. Undoubtedly, the conditions of misery, underdevelopment, and isolation of the Portuguese people, documented in the film, have not improved, just as the harsh colonial war in African possessions continues. But the clandestine interviews with the workers, students and some personalities of the resistance and the opposition to the regime and the images of popular demonstrations, which the dictatorship cannot prevent, are proof that Portugal's “tranquility” is only apparent and that the struggle for a radical change in the society of that country is growing.
