Location: Rome, Italy Creator: Anna Lajolo, Alfredo Leonardi, Guido Lombardi, Paola Scarnati The documentary illustrates the struggle for the house in a metropolis like the capital of Italy, where everyone's right to have a civil home finds very serious obstacles in the chaotic increase in urbanization, in building speculation, in the degradation of the townships, in the extension of the phenomenon of the baraccati, who live in fortunate housing and whose living conditions have been dramatic for decades. Starting from the situation in Rome, the documentary then deals with the general theme of the problem of housing throughout the country, and therefore the struggle that the popular forces lead - also through new forms organizational activities such as folk consultations and agitation committees - throughout the national territory to achieve the first goal of a civil society: a house worthy of the name for all citizens. 01. Interiors of dirty and dilapidated buildings. Families gather their things together and leave on cars 02. The baraccati of the Borghetto Latino force the door of the building in Piazza dell'Esquilino to occupy it 03. Interview with one of the occupants who tells the moment when the doors of the building were blocked 04. Broken plaster of the ceiling in the interior of an apartment. A man sitting on a sofa with his children illustrates the situation in which he is forced to live 05. Three ladies sitting with a panel behind them where you can read a sign: “Let's eliminate the shacks in Rome”. One of them is interviewed 06. The occupants of the Esquilino's houses destroy the shacks in which they lived in in protest 07. Interview with a lady who continues to live in the Borghetto Latino who explains what are the most urgent interventions to be carried out 08. Other interventions by people forced to live in disadvantaged homes and in the dirt. Inq from the top of the Borghetto Latino 09. Shacks in Prato Rotondo. A lady, with her family, is interviewed about the living conditions in the shacks 10. People take water from the fountain, children play in the middle of the garbage 11. Testimony of Don Gerardo Lutte, who struggles together with the baraccati of Prato Rotondo to improve his living conditions 12. Interview with a representative of the People's Consultation 13. Representatives of the Borgate Agitation Committee speak 14. Demonstration of the baraccati. The protesters have a banner: “Proletarians of all over the world join.” Inq from the top of the shacks 15. Popular neighborhood. Interview with the representative of the popular council 16. A neighbourhood inhabitant explains that the families who live there come from Tiburtino Terzo and Pietralata 17. A woman with her youngest child in her arms and the others close to her complains that she has to pay too much rent compared to the size of her apartment. 18. Some respondents at the beginning of the film speak again, pointing out that they will continue to fight for a habitable home
