b.1959 Patrick Gibbs was born in 1959 and studied art at The Ruskin School of Fine Art and Drawing, Oxford and at Godsmith’s College, London University. Since 1985 he has devoted all his time to painting, and has been strongly influenced by the rich scenery and architecture of Southern Europe. Central Italy is one of his favourite haunts and he has made numerous trips there. He also enjoys painting in Britain and has been inspired by the West coast of Scotland, Edinburgh, Northumberland and the Lake District as well as his native London. Although he is predominantly a painter of landscapes and townscapes, Patrick’s range of subject matter is extensive. Landscape exhibitions will often include small portrait studies; he is a prolific figure painter, and also particularly enjoys painting sports scenes.
