Opened in 2011, the new David Chipperfield building for the Hepworth Wakefield Gallery has been lauded as one of the finest works of contemporary architecture in Britain. The gallery hosts special exhibitions and is home to a large collection of the work of the eponymous Barbara Hepworth. Wakefield's own art collection is housed here and consists of a wide range of pieces from 17th century Dutch still lifes to work by Wakefield's other famous sculptor, Henry Moore.
