Advocating local resources the Ipswich Museum and exhibition gallery boasts zoology, botany, geology, archaeology, local history and ethnography collections. A diverse resource of fine and applied arts, furniture and design is housed in the Tudor Christchurch Mansion and its modern Wolsey Art Gallery’s runs a busy contemporary exhibitions schedule. Suffolk artists from the 17th century to the present day, represent some of the most important works outside London by local artists such as Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable.
