Description
Alan Sillitoe ( 1928 – 2010) English novelist, poet and playwright, and one of the "Angry Young Men" of the 1950s, a label he disliked as did most of the other writers to whom it was applied. Best remembered for his early novels Saturday Night and Sunday Morning (1958) and The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (1959), both made into successful films. Known for gritty realism and pared-down prose style.
