Description
Thomas Hardy family graves: Saint Michael's, Stinsford, outside Dorchester, Dorset. The English novelist (1840-1928) was baptised here in June 1840, lived nearby and worshiped here when young. His heart is buried in the second grave from the Left (he was honoured with a burial in Westminster Abbey) along with his 2 wives, Emma (d. 1912) and Florence (d. 1937); his siblings lie in the first, his parents in the third, grandfather in the fourth, grandmother Mary Hardy (celebrated in the poem 'One We Knew') on the right.
