Description
Thomas Edward Lawrence (1888–1935) British author, archaeologist, military officer, and diplomat. Associated with the World War One, Arab Revolt (1916-1918). Presented by Sherif Nasir in 1917 after the Arab forces’ victory against the Turks at Aqaba, Jordan. After Oxford, Lawrence became an archaeologist, working in Egypt, Palestine and Syria, all part of the Ottoman Empire. This first-hand knowledge and experience ensured that after he enlisted in the British Army in October 1914 he was posted to Cairo and the intelligence staff of the British Middle East Command to serve in the campaign against the Turkish forces.
